principle of superposition of light ! Wave Optics

 Q. Explain the principle of superposition of light?

Ans: According to the principle of superposition when two or more than two waves are travelling in a medium then the resultant displacement of a particle of medium is the algebraic sum of  displacements produced by individual waves. For example if ‘n’ waves are travelling in a medium and each one of them produces displacement Y1, Y2, Y3, Y4,……Yn,
then the resultant displacement of the particle will be given as: Y = Y1 + Y2 + Y3 + Y4 +…………..+ Yn
